sheronm replied to your post “Finally caught up on season 5 of Avengers Assemble. And I have no…”

Oh what happens to Steve & Tony?

In season 5, episode 12, Steve goes poof in a vibranium cloud (shield gets shattered too) as he tries to stop the story macguffin from going off. The rest of the Avengers go after T’Challa that they blame for Steve being gone. In episode 13, T’Challa and Shuri fight the world (including Tony in a stealth suit and a bare-chested Thor) to return the macguffin to Wakanda.

I don’t know where to start because I just wasn’t crazy about season 5. AA T’challa felt very very comic-booky, instead of the MCU version. A lot of problems would be solved if people talked to each other; that part was painful.

But the poofing of Steve was really kind of awful since there was no emotional reaction or space to digest.

sheronm replied to your post “What I could really use is a place that documents all the crazy that…”

Wouldn’t Fanlore wiki be exactly for this?

Fanlore is great when the dust settles or is nearly settling. When we’re trying to explain how we lived through the Tumblr Titanic Disaster of 2018.

I was more thinking of something that lists all the crazy of the day – stuff like “are other people not seeing red flags anymore” or “today there’s a glitch that prevents people from seeing your page.” It’s hard keeping up with the weirdness. And exhausting.

Hey there, Will you be tagging for Avengers 4 spoilers/trailer? :)

Gosh, it’s that time of year, isn’t it? 🙂

Right. My policy on posting on spoilers follows.

I generally reblog posters, occasionally trailers and commonly available marketing materials. I mark this stuff as Avengers 4 spoilers because some people want to control what they know about the films.

I will use the tag Avengers 4 spoilers and then the name of the movie when we find that out.

But I won’t be posting anything more than posters. One of my closest friends reads my blog and really hates spoilers. I avoid posting anything that she would not likely find in her media consumption. We’re talking about a person who managed to be completely unspoiled about IW for the week after it came out. So that’s my standard for spoilers – would Trish be unhappy with me if I reblog this. She would in 95% of the cases.

I have made exceptions for funny memes that come from marketing. Again I tag as heavily as I can.

Thanks for asking!

sheronm replied to your post “If you’d like: K, V :-)”

Ah, yes, I relate to Steve a lot too! Thank you for answering these! 🙂

I don’t hide it at work either. I have a huge framed poster in my office, a Lego Cap on my desk with Steve and Tony Dorbs and a Cap statuette, and a shield keychain. I even got a Captain America valentine last year from the Reference Department.

But yeah, when I’m walking to my car and I’m going over my terrible day (I have a very micromanaging dean right now), I think about what Steve would do. Except I can’t take out my issues with a vibranium shield. And that’s how I end up writing fanfic.

If you’d like: K, V :-)

Thanks for asking!

(I’m procrastinating on everything today.)

K – What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

Hmmm, this is actually pretty hard to answer because I have favorite characters but it’s not like they have development arc in their canon, just things that happen to them and they react and the reactions are fun. So I’m going to cheat and say the development arc for Apsley Cherry-Garrard who wrote a memoir of his experience on the Scott Expedition (Worst Journey in the World) – he goes from being excited and naive about the expedition leadership to being significantly changed by the experience of going on under-prepared expedition to the Antarctic.

V – Which character do you relate to most?

Captain America/Steve Rogers! I was going through a very difficult time at work (my dean at the time was having a nervous breakdown on the job and it was just awful for everyone concerned) when I first saw the Avengers and then CATFA. And I was just absolutely inspired by Steve’s struggles in both movies and the particular role he plays with the Avengers both in comics and in the movies. I also get the struggle between the personal and the public that Steve has (discontent with leadership while having to lead and that jazz.

Aww this is super cute! 😀 I love Steve’s indignation about the commercials cutting into the game.

Thanks! Steve probably loves watching the games instead of listening over the radio but the ever-present commercials likely grate on his nerves. He grumbles a lot about the modern game.

Oh man, when I read that they were watching the third game I just thought: “Tony, my man, you better brace yourself. Its gonna be a looooooong night.”

I know! That game went on forever. Personally I headed to bed during the 14th inning, after falling asleep on the couch during the 10th. And people stayed in the stadium to watch it!

sheronm replied to your post “sheronm replied to your post “@sineala X-men Evolution went all in…”

Thank you! I didn’t even realize this existed 🙂

It’s, um, not very good. Fantastic Four World’s Greatest Heroes first appeared on Cartoon Network and I’m not sure if all the episodes even aired for the first run. I kept running across the episode where Sue has to deal with the unhappy neighbors and barely any others. The last episode I remember watching was when Tony showed up (I kept hoping for Steve, but alas, no.)

Although it is not a good show, it does hit one of the major ticky-boxes for a Fantastic Four story besides Doom. Namor shows up!

sheronm replied to your post “@sineala X-men Evolution went all in for Logan remembering Steve from…”

Is it only one episode? or are there others that features Steve and/or Tony?

Steve’s in an episode of X-men Evolution (Operation: Rebirth) and in one for X-men: The Animated Series (Old Soldiers). X-men Evolution is definitely pre-Avengers but there’s a visual reference to Tony with the appearance of Stark Tower.

For really obscure, how about the Tony episode from Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes that came out after the 2005 movie? They had one episode involving Tony (Shell Games).

This cartoon also featured one seriously off-model Hank Pym:

I really love the glimpses of Tony’s backstory we get in this ep – I think that’s the first time we see him in a business suit on screen in AA if I’m not mistaken – the rest of the time he’s more casually dressed or IM

@sheronm – I hope it’s okay to comment on this –

Planet Doom is amazing because it’s the closest we get to origin stories for Tony, Bruce, and Steve in AA. Then there’s alternate versions of the heroes (pulling on 616, Ults, Noir versions/backstory) and the mash-up of heroes and villains (Natasha/Madame Masque for one thing). And then the Punisher cameo is really unexpected.

There’s a lot to mine in that episode ….
