If you’ve been wondering why I’ve dropped off the map lately, it’s because I’ve been preparing to go to this writer’s workshop called Clarion West. (I got into Clarion West! Holy shit.) This is the coolest fucking thing that’s ever happened to me and means I’m moving ever closer to Serious Writing! They get a shit-ton of applications and they only take 18 people every year. I am truly living the dream. 

My tuition is taken care of, but I still need some help getting there. A lot of you know I’ve been struggling with health stuff. Some of you also know that chronic illness doesn’t come cheap. I’m unemployed, and as my pain gets worse and my mobility declines, so too does my only source of income, dog-walking gigs, run dry. My sister brings me food a lot. I lean on my parents to cover my specialists and they’re pulling that from their retirement. I didn’t actually think I would get into this workshop; but here we are and I have to cover the attendant expenses associated with a trip across the country. It’s not a thing you turn down if you have the chance to go.
