Happy Hanukkah, everyone, from these two jerks! I’m posting this a little early this year. Line art by the amazing Ro Stein & Ted Brandt, and colour art by @deecunniffe

I want to point out what a technical achievement this story is on the art side. There’s a real joy to creating a whole story in eight panels, but this? This is some magic. We introduce four new characters. In panel 5, SIX PEOPLE are talking. SIX. In the world of comics, that’s almost un-doable.

Yet Ro and Ted arranged everything so the conversations flow and are sensibly grouped, all the “acting” is fantastic, and then Dee laid on top these beautiful, almost fairytale colours – look at the subtle work, the blush in Henry’s cheeks, Frank’s five o-clock shadow, the shine of the wine bottle’s glass surface, the light texturing in the backgrounds… and of course the snow! This is some first-class illustration work on an incredibly hard script. (I fear Ro and Ted always get me at my worst – my very formalist script for them in the 24 Panels anthology was no cakewalk either. (The problem is, they’re just so damn good at it… check out their work on the Image comic Crowded!)

As always, if you like what we do in Hells Kitchen Movie Club, consider donating a little to a veteran’s charity

(I also have a thriller novel I’m crowdfunding, please check it out, we are more than halfway there. The book is all written…)

THE BACHELOR AU!!!

Something that @hellogarbagetime came up with is that Steve isn’t there on purose. He was put there as a way to figure out who kept sending Tony all these death threats. So accidents keep happening while the show is about to air and Tony obvs can’t back out so they put in Steve as a way to protect Tony. They wrote him into the show so that Steve makes it all the way to the end and is keeping an eye on things when he’s not being filmed.

Basically he’s having a bad time. THE THING IS HE AND TONY USED TO DATE AND WERE VERY SERIOUS AND MAYBE STEVE ISN’T SO MUCH OVER IT AND HE EVENTUALLY STARTS TO TAKE THE GAME KINDA SERIOUSLY MAYBE BECAUSE TONY KEEPS MAKING GOOGOO EYES AT HIM!!!

Online Fans call him Grumpy Steve since there’s probably like three other steve’s in the game. AND i forgot to label him but Ty is there (FOR SOME REEEEASONNNNNNN) and the other guy is Henry Hellrung bc I just like Henry lol

So what is a remix?

A fanwork remix is a transformation of an existing fanwork. Much like with song remixes and remix tapes, remixing a fanwork is your chance to create a different version of another person’s fanwork. This is your invitation to re-imagine another person’s work by putting your own spin to it using different techniques (for example, changing the style, tone or narrative voice…) while maintaining some of its original elements like the general plot.

Remixing a fanwork can mean switching POV or composition, changing the tone or mood of a story, writing a timestamp or drawing a missing scene, or even transplanting a fic or picture into a new universe.

Still not sure what that entails? Be sure to read through our How To Remix post for tips and examples, and our General Remix Guidelines before you sign up!

As organized in our previous years, this event will consist of three challenges: the Remix Exchange, the Remix Relay challenge, and Remix Madness.

Remix Exchange

The Remix Exchange is a fanwork exchange between writers, where everyone is assigned to another writer and expected to choose and remix at least one of the available stories. Your remixer can remix any of your fanfics (aside from one “safe story” of your choosing and other ineligible stories).

For more information, check out the full Remix Exchange page. Sign-ups open on December 15th.

Remix Relay

Relay Remix is a remix chain in the style of a speedy game of Telephone for artists and writers. For those of you who like the idea of continued remixes and thinking of remix ideas on your feet, this is the challenge to sign-up for!

For more information, check out the full Remix Relay page. Sign-ups open on December 8th.

Remix Madness

Madness is a low-stress, no obligation event. During Madness, you are welcome to create as many remixes as you want or feel comfortable with, starting from when the event begins until creator reveals happen!

Remix Madness information will be available starting on January 10th.

If you have any questions before each challenge begins, feel free to send us a message or reach out to the mods at cap.im.events@gmail.com. We can’t wait to get started!
