Let me just level with you all at 10:15 in the morning on a Monday.. there’s a nsfw trope I want to stand up for right now: Surprise, We’re Making Love!
In which two characters keep hooking up repeatedly, and they both assume it’s just a casual thing born out of convenience and mutual surface attraction. Except one very much knows they’re falling for the other person? And it’s getting harder to stifle the feeling? And in the middle of a hook up, it becomes waaayyyy less of the down and durrty bang town it usually is, and the moment sort of contracts around them.. gets slow and gentle and intensely intimate. And the other person who up until this point has been guarded and determined to not fall in love, realizes what is happening, that the hands on them have turned tender, that this isnt Fucking, it’s INTIMACY. And they share a moment of sustained eye-contact in which the look in the I Been Knew person’s eyes is bare and obvious before they shut them again because they KNOOWWWW what they just let slip, and think they aren’t allowed to feel this way for this person and don’t want to press them into giving more than what was initially offered because they respect them. And the Guarded One is shook to the core and baffled because they’ve been so afraid of emotional entanglement and getting hurt, that they don’t really realise until that moment that it’s waayyyy too late and they’ve already fallen in love too?
