Well, I didn’t consider it as an alternative until now, but… hell, why not?

Folks, I’m not joking… it could be REALLY an alternative:

Trying to think of a reason not to consider this like

Ha, some sites are jumping on the chance to welcome nipplegate refugees.

69/69 10/10 would post smut to PornHub.

sheronm replied to your post “What I could really use is a place that documents all the crazy that…”

Wouldn’t Fanlore wiki be exactly for this?

Fanlore is great when the dust settles or is nearly settling. When we’re trying to explain how we lived through the Tumblr Titanic Disaster of 2018.

I was more thinking of something that lists all the crazy of the day – stuff like “are other people not seeing red flags anymore” or “today there’s a glitch that prevents people from seeing your page.” It’s hard keeping up with the weirdness. And exhausting.

Heading to Pillowfort, and I’m Offering Keys

greenjudy:

tyramir:

Hi, you may or may not know me. I go by Tyramir, and I’m an author. Mostly I write fanfic, but I have also published a book at some point. (Yes, that was a subtle plug – don’t feel obligated to click the links, they’re there to justify to myself why I’m doing this so I can say this wasn’t 100% altruistic because I’m a crusty old troll)

So, recently, Tumblr has made something of an announcement regarding what kind of content they will and will not host in the future. And you know what, that’s okay. It’s their site. They can do what they want. Just like I’m free to say, “Hey, @staff, go fuck yourselves with some sandpaper, you masochistic fucks.”

Ah, that felt good. You know what else feels good? Moving to Pillowfort. I’m in no way associated with them, beyond that I am now a user. I just bought a key. More than one, actually. I bought a whackload of them. I am not rich. See: author. Very poor profession if you’re not ultra-successful. However, what I am is angry, and disappointed with the direction this site is taking.

This site is home for the marginalised, for the outcasts, for the misfits. It’s also the home for a lot of fellow artists, like myself. Ones that might not have a little extra cash in their wallets. So, as a Christmas gift (and as a way of sharing that link up above advertising my book, see self, you’re not totally altruistic), I’m making this offer.

Reblog and like this post. You don’t have to follow me. You don’t have to buy my book. You don’t have to tell anyone it exists. You don’t even have to click that link. Just like and reblog. Anyone who likes it will get one entry for drawing for a key. Anyone who reblogs it will get one. Anyone who does both will get two. And on December 17th, the Day of Ignominy, I will draw ten names, and I will gift ten keys. I’ll even wear a Willy Wonka hat while I do. You won’t be able to see it, but the spirit will be there.

If you want to get the word out, but don’t want to get an entry (say you already have a Pillowfort account), just reblog and tag the post with “no entry,” or some variation thereof. I’ll exclude you from the draw, but thank you (in my mind, I’m not gonna actually thank people, but that requires effort, yo) for helping others learn about this opportunity.

TL;DR: Bald author wants to use very little cash he has to give people Pillowfort accounts. Just like and reblog for entries. Also, I hope you are feasted upon by a swarm of angry weasels, @staff.

Boosting. This is fantastic, @tyramir.

To all new Steve/Tony fans on Dreamwidth and existing users, we invite you to join the second Cap-IronMan Friending Meme on our community! Whether this is your first time on the platform or you want to infuse your friends list with more Steve/Tony, we hope you join and have fun!

Say hi, make new friends, and share your love for Steve/Tony with other shippers!

Join the Cap-IronMan Friending Meme on Dreamwidth!

Once our Pillowfort community is up and running, we’ll set up a friending meme there as well. In the meantime, we hope to see you in our Dreamwidth community!

This is so unfair and it’s making me so anxious, honestly fandom is usually my safe haven from anxiety and stressful life things but it’s like hell now :(

sabrecmc:

It is stressful right now, I know. That’s the uncertainty for the most part.  I love this fandom and, like you, it is my stress-reliever and a place to feel happy and accepted.

The good news is that no one is disappearing in the Tumblr Snap.  We will all be around in one form or another. Fandom will find a home, like it always has.  Most people are making efforts to stay connected and plans are being put into action.

We’ll have a trailer in a few days.  We have more fic coming every day.  Our artists are the best around.  We are supremely lucky.  Sure, this is a rough patch, but it will all shake out.  We’ll probably (hopefully) have learned from tumblr and end up somewhere that wants us and is designed for us.  Wouldn’t that be nice?  So, yeah, we all need to vent and complain, but we should have perspective, too.  Your and my safe haven isn’t disappearing, just changing.  Come on over to Discord, if you want, and see all the familiar people hanging out there.  Follow along with Cap-Ironman on Dreamwidth.  And don’t worry too much.  It will work itself out in the end, we’re just having some growing pains at the moment.

Upcoming Cap-IronMan Community & Tumblr Plans

cap-ironman:

In light of changes to Tumblr’s Community Guidelines, we wanted to share our plans for what’s going to happen to this Tumblr and the cap-ironman community to everyone who might be curious or worried.

Our community runs primarily on Dreamwidth, which has served as an archive for stevetony fanworks and other activities for over a decade. We invite everyone to join and share their stevetony fanworks (art, fic, manips, fanvids — you name it) on Dreamwidth! (Just remember to read through our posting guidelines first.)

If you are new to Dreamwidth, we recommend reading the welcome letter from the DW Staff. If you have any questions on how to use Dreamwidth in general, you may direct them there. If you have any questions regarding the cap-ironman community specifically, feel free to ask the mods!

We will continue using Tumblr for announcing events and reblogging participant works. We are not concerned about our own posts on the cap-ironman blog being flagged or inaccessible, since most of them are event promos/crossposts or have already been archived on DW/LJ. Unfortunately, because we cannot ask Tumblr to review or appeal reblogged posts ourselves, we recommend going through your fanwork posts and asking them to review your individual posts, as many of them have been incorrectly flagged as sensitive. We also encourage all community members and event participants to promote their Steve/Tony fanworks (event work or not) on Dreamwidth if you’d like it shared beyond the event masterlist it’s been featured in.

For the Tiny Reverse Bang (capim-tinybang) and our Steve/Tony Slashy Moments (cap-im), both of which are hosted entirely on Tumblr, we’ll be making sure that all the material is either unflagged on Tumblr or archived properly elsewhere. If you have participated in TRB in the past, please double check that your work is in the collections on AO3, just in case.

If you are leaving Tumblr but want to keep tabs on Cap-IronMan events, please follow us on:

  • Dreamwidth. As all our event posts are made here, this is the most reliable way to ensure that you’re getting all the information regarding our events.
  • Twitter. We use Twitter only for announcements, so this is a great way to hear about challenges, sign-ups, and round-ups!
  • Pillowfort. We’ve made a community on Pillowfort and are in the process of getting it set up. We thank you for your patience as we get the community up and running, and we’ll post more information about our PF community soon!

If you’ve made the transition over to Dreamwidth, or are an existing Dreamwidth user, we’ve set up a Friending Meme on the community! Once Pillowfort is stable enough, we’ll also set up one there as well. You can expect a formal post for them soon, so you can sign up and make friends on both communities. Plus, you’ll be able to share and plug all the other social media sites you use, if you want to find your fandom friends on other sites!

For our community members who use Tumblr for events:

  • If you have provided a Tumblr link for an event masterpost in the past, you may email us at cap.im.events@gmail.com at any time to change the link to a different one (for example, one on AO3). Please provide the EVENT and YEAR of the work you’d like to change the link to, so we can find your work easily. You may view all of our available masterlists here.
  • If you use Tumblr to host your images and are worried about losing your content because they have been flagged as sensitive, please note that Tumblr will not delete flagged posts, it will make them private, and that direct image links should still be accessible and functional. However if you are still concerned, we encourage you to re-upload your images to another image hosting service, such as Imgur or even under your Dreamwidth account, and check places where you might have embedded Tumblr image links (AO3 posts, etc.)

If you need to export your entire Tumblr blog, please refer to this post for instructions on how to do so and receive your content as a downloadable ZIP file.

Wherever you choose to go, we hope to continue seeing you in the community!
