Artists,
please take this time to read over the summaries and compile your list
for the day of claiming. You will need to return this Saturday
(September 29th) after 13:00 UTC (What time is that for me?) to submit your claims wish list and make it all official. Please check the world clock link above, or this countdown to be sure when this is in your timezone.
No Dreamwidth account is required for claims, as anonymous commenting
will be enabled. However, because of the extra verification Dreamwidth
requires for anonymous users, we strongly urge participating artists to make an account before claims open.
Writers, if you see anything in your summary that needs to
be corrected or added (especially warnings or other
pairings/characters), please contact the mods at cap.im.events@gmail.com now. Please keep in mind that claims are done anonymously, so it’s crucial that you do not share which story is yours during this period.
Happy browsing, everyone!
If you have any questions, feel free to get in touch with the mods at cap.im.events@gmail.com before claims open.
Flame Con has an X-men redesign panel every year, and every year we tackle different hard-to-redesign characters (and some easy fan favorites). I’ve compiled all the designs so far. I really want to make a print, probably just of my women redesigns so the scope doesn’t get out of hand, but we’ll see. The Gambit is a redesign crossover with Soul Calibur, and the Storm was done on my own time just for fun. They’re in the order they were completed for the most part so you can see the amount of time and effort going in to these increased as time went on. Still, I really love the simplicity in the earlier ones. Which other characters should I redesign for the print?
So that’s the end of the event for me. I got: 2 new characters, got the returning characters up to gold, got the penguin, bought the Bucky costume, and got four characters up to rank 5, which I consider great. And I’ll get the gold trophy.
I did like getting gold orbs in fights when we first cleared nodes so I liked that. I liked the crate part. Bucky’s storyline was very funny with all the emo callbacks.
The thing is that for me to get the two new characters, I had to buy the generators. Comparatively speaking, I was willing to buy the premium characters during the version 1 events. I’m wondering if I want to budget for that again, i.e. buying generators. I’m kind of in a spot where I have the vast majority of characters (I’m missing 3) so the events don’t have much for me if I can’t earn new characters.
The other thing that I learned from this event is I have to start getting characters up vibranium and leveled up beyond level 50 (my current academy level is 55) to get further in future events, specifically the diamond trophies.
I like getting new characters and I don’t mind grinding for them. But the game is focused more on rewarding a player when they’ve ranked, leveled, and raritied up chatacters than having a lot of characters. Except for those rare types like a mystic tank — it’s necessary to invest getting those types of characters. So that makes me wonder about waiting to get new characters later through orbs or as returning characters in events. It makes sense to do that, but not as much fun.
On to the next event, I guess.
Right now it is 11:38 am Sept 26 in Baker Island. Hmmmm. Maybe I can get the Cap-IM draft done.
“We created zero-gravity zones on Earth for recreation, but reconsidered after learning their downsides. Plants grew tall and spindly with no need for structural support. Ants formed bridges through the air to reach our hidden food. Jumping spiders soon learned they could fly.”

I love writing microfiction, and Unbound is an unconventional publisher that accepts my own brand of weirdness. They can experiment on authors like me by crowdfunding the first run of new books. This is a dream of mine, so please, consider pledging.
