Upcoming Cap-IronMan Community & Tumblr Plans

cap-ironman:

In light of changes to Tumblr’s Community Guidelines, we wanted to share our plans for what’s going to happen to this Tumblr and the cap-ironman community to everyone who might be curious or worried.

Our community runs primarily on Dreamwidth, which has served as an archive for stevetony fanworks and other activities for over a decade. We invite everyone to join and share their stevetony fanworks (art, fic, manips, fanvids — you name it) on Dreamwidth! (Just remember to read through our posting guidelines first.)

If you are new to Dreamwidth, we recommend reading the welcome letter from the DW Staff. If you have any questions on how to use Dreamwidth in general, you may direct them there. If you have any questions regarding the cap-ironman community specifically, feel free to ask the mods!

We will continue using Tumblr for announcing events and reblogging participant works. We are not concerned about our own posts on the cap-ironman blog being flagged or inaccessible, since most of them are event promos/crossposts or have already been archived on DW/LJ. Unfortunately, because we cannot ask Tumblr to review or appeal reblogged posts ourselves, we recommend going through your fanwork posts and asking them to review your individual posts, as many of them have been incorrectly flagged as sensitive. We also encourage all community members and event participants to promote their Steve/Tony fanworks (event work or not) on Dreamwidth if you’d like it shared beyond the event masterlist it’s been featured in.

For the Tiny Reverse Bang (capim-tinybang) and our Steve/Tony Slashy Moments (cap-im), both of which are hosted entirely on Tumblr, we’ll be making sure that all the material is either unflagged on Tumblr or archived properly elsewhere. If you have participated in TRB in the past, please double check that your work is in the collections on AO3, just in case.

If you are leaving Tumblr but want to keep tabs on Cap-IronMan events, please follow us on:

  • Dreamwidth. As all our event posts are made here, this is the most reliable way to ensure that you’re getting all the information regarding our events.
  • Twitter. We use Twitter only for announcements, so this is a great way to hear about challenges, sign-ups, and round-ups!
  • Pillowfort. We’ve made a community on Pillowfort and are in the process of getting it set up. We thank you for your patience as we get the community up and running, and we’ll post more information about our PF community soon!

If you’ve made the transition over to Dreamwidth, or are an existing Dreamwidth user, we’ve set up a Friending Meme on the community! Once Pillowfort is stable enough, we’ll also set up one there as well. You can expect a formal post for them soon, so you can sign up and make friends on both communities. Plus, you’ll be able to share and plug all the other social media sites you use, if you want to find your fandom friends on other sites!

For our community members who use Tumblr for events:

  • If you have provided a Tumblr link for an event masterpost in the past, you may email us at cap.im.events@gmail.com at any time to change the link to a different one (for example, one on AO3). Please provide the EVENT and YEAR of the work you’d like to change the link to, so we can find your work easily. You may view all of our available masterlists here.
  • If you use Tumblr to host your images and are worried about losing your content because they have been flagged as sensitive, please note that Tumblr will not delete flagged posts, it will make them private, and that direct image links should still be accessible and functional. However if you are still concerned, we encourage you to re-upload your images to another image hosting service, such as Imgur or even under your Dreamwidth account, and check places where you might have embedded Tumblr image links (AO3 posts, etc.)

If you need to export your entire Tumblr blog, please refer to this post for instructions on how to do so and receive your content as a downloadable ZIP file.

Wherever you choose to go, we hope to continue seeing you in the community!
