Work Description:
This listing is for one of the Pride Cap necklaces or keychains available at my Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/100indecisions). Basically, they’re little Captain America shields that I repaint in a variety of Pride flag colors; my shop shows a lot of example photos, but I can do other flags that aren’t listed yet as long as you tell me what colors to use. For physical items like this, it’ll be easiest for me (and, hopefully, for you) to run everything through my Etsy shop. Whoever wins or buys one of those items can show me proof of the donation and then contact me on Etsy, and we’ll arrange everything from there; I’ll create a private free (or very cheap with a refund if necessary, assuming Etsy doesn’t allow free listings) listing for the item you’ve won. Because it’s a physical item, your bid does not include shipping, which I’ll ask you to pay me. I do have some premade necklaces and keychains that can be shipped immediately upon payment, and anything else would be ready to ship within a week. (As a side note, the majority of proceeds from any of the Pride stuff sold normally through my shop goes toward the Trevor Project and similar organizations–so if you bid and don’t win but you want to buy something outside the Marvel Trumps Hate auction, you’ll still be supporting several of the organizations on the list.)

This listing is for one of the Pride Cap figures available at my Etsy shop (https://www.etsy.com/shop/100indecisions). Basically, they’re little Captain America action figures with their shields repainted in a variety of Pride flag colors; I currently have examples available for bisexual, pansexual, and the LGBT+ rainbow, but I can do other flags as well. For physical items like this, it’ll be easiest for me (and, hopefully, for you) to run everything through my Etsy shop. I can read for grammar, clarity, internal consistency, etc. for pretty much anything, although if you want canon-specific advice, I’m not familiar enough with anything except the MCU.
Work Description:
This listing is for copy-editing/beta-reading services on a fic or multiple fics, with the amount of your donation determining the word count and level of editing. For every $25 you bid, I will beta either 2500 words of heavy line-by-line editing (your teachers/professors/beta readers always hand back your papers/fics with lots of corrections), 5000 words of medium editing (your papers/fics tend to be pretty solid but your attention to detail isn’t great), or 10,000 words of lighter proofreading/beta-reading (you’re fairly confident in all aspects of your writing but you want a second set of eyes to catch things you might have missed). In general, I’m happy to read for continuity, grammar/punctuation/clarity/general proofreading, and US slang/idioms for non-US writers. I’m probably not a great person for beta-reading porn–I can certainly still edit the mechanical aspects, and I can say “hey I’m imagining this and I can’t figure out how these people are physically doing this” or “these characters started on a bed but now they’re on the floor with no mention of how they got there,” but I wouldn’t be so good at saying whether something is hot/sexy or realistic. (On a related note, if you’d like a sensitivity reader for asexual-spectrum identities, I would be good for that.) For MCU fics, I should also be able to give some canon-specific advice, especially if the fic in question is about Loki. My qualifications: I have a master’s degree in English, I taught English composition as a grad student, and at this point I have about a decade of professional editing experience on one level or another–which of course doesn’t even include the beta-reading I’ve already done for free.
The auction runs from October 21 (12 AM ET) to October 27 (11:59 PM ET). Visit marveltrumpshate.com during Auction Week to view all of our auctions and to place your bids!
