★ AUCTION WEEK INFO ★
Welcome to Day 2 of the auction! We’re so pleased to see bids rolling in; let’s keep them comin’.
We have a couple of announcements about prompt brainstorming, group bids, and bid confirmations:
- Some great conversations are happening on our Discord server, so we created a #matchmaking channel to connect creators and bidders who have specific prompts in mind. Conversations can move pretty fast, so we’re asking everyone to keep discussions brief and leave in-depth talks to DMs so that ideas don’t get lost; we want participants to easily scroll through various requests and offers!
In #matchmaking, potential bidders can propose a certain prompt or story idea and check whether any creator would be interested in it. They can also ask about certain types of auctions (e.g., poly X-Men fic offers). Creators can then DM or reply with their auction. Creators themselves can post the specifics of their auctions or expand a little on their offerings. We do ask that people say something new, rather than copy-pasting their work description into the channel.
- If you want to bid on a creator but aren’t sure you can compete with other bidders, we allow group bids! Group bids are accepted if you and a friend (or a group) want to combine efforts and bid as a collective for an auction. One representative per group must be responsible for coordinating the bid and submitting all the donation receipts by our donation deadline: November 5 at 11:59 PM ET (what time is that for me?).
If you’d like to announce or discuss your group bids, you can do so in the #pod-bids channel on our Discord server. (You’re welcome to form pod bids elsewhere; we just made a Discord channel to make it easier for people to organize them.) Come join in on the fun and find people to bid on your favorite creators with! If you have a pod bid in mind, please contact the creator first to see if they’re okay with your prompt idea before seeing if anyone is open to joining your pod bid.
- If you want to check whether your bid(s) went through after they’re placed, we’d like to remind you about the “Total bids placed” tab, located to the right of the “Description” tab on every auction on our site. After you place a bid, simply refresh the page and click on the tab; if your bid was submitted successfully, you’ll be able to see your username and bid amount there even if you don’t get a bid confirmation email.
Let’s keep the momentum going— we’re doing great!
