That should under no circumstances keep you from joining the Captain America/Iron Man Big Bang 2018!
Some tropes get popular, and many writers try their own takes on them. That’s great though! Everybody brings their own unique take to the table — and none of the stories turn out exactly the same.
Have you ever seen two people write for the same prompt in a prompt meme or fest? The same premise and idea can lead to stories that differ wildly in style, tone and plot.
And remember, canon does it too, reimagining and reinventing things over and over.
First meetings.
Costumes.
Armours.
Infinity Stones.
Fighting.
Grief.
Making up.
While it’s good to try and be original too, there’s nothing wrong with writing the tropes you like — even if they’ve been done over and over already. Think about Identity Porn, different first meetings, CW fix-its, that Harry Potter AU which no fandom is without, the Coffee Shop AU that’s always a go-to… Can you ever get enough of the tropes you love?
Never be discouraged because something was done before, because one thing is always true: nobody can tell your story the way YOU DO.
Running since 2011, the Cap-IronMan Big Bang challenges the community’s writers to create Steve/Tony-focused fic with a minimum of 25,000 words. Artists are then invited to create accompanying art! To sign up as a writer you need to send us your draft and summary by September 26th.
