In the the pages of Avengers: Millennium a team of Avengers gets scattered across time and Cap makes the crazy decision to let himself be frozen so he can be found by the others later in the time stream so they all can get back together and home. In 1945 Tony finds his pod, but figures out his plan. When in the far future Steve wakes up with Bruce and Wanda he says: “I knew Tony would find me.”
